Enabling & Disabling Deep Freeze

February 16, 2007 at 2:42 am 57 comments

Work Operation
After successfully “logging on” the Boot Control dialog box will appear.
Boot Control
You can choose from three different “Next Boot” options. The default next boot, Boot Frozen, will reboot with Deep Freeze frozen (enabled). This option would normally be used only after selecting the Boot Thawed option. “The Boot Thawed on next” option is used to allow the computer to boot a specified number of times in the Thawed state (disabled). The Boot Thawed option sets the computer to boot continuously with Deep Freeze disabled.
Caution: Selecting the Boot Thawed option leaves Deep Freeze continuously disabled. To re-enable Deep Freeze (in the Frozen mode) you must Logon, as above, and select the control option, Boot Frozen, and then reboot the computer. Deep Freeze is controlled on the local workstation through the Boot Control dialog box which has the Boot Control and Advanced Tabs. On this dialog box you can select if Deep Freeze will be in a thawed or frozen state after your next restart. By selecting the “Boot Thawed on next ‘n‘ restarts” option you can set Deep Freeze to re-enable itself after a specified number of restarts. If you are using a One Time Password that is only valid for one restart you will be unable to change this value beyond three restarts.

After clicking OK and restarting the computer, Deep Freeze will be in either the thawed or frozen state depending on the option selected.
NOTE: If using One Time Passwords the option to select multiple restarts will only be available for 1 to 3 restarts
Change Password

If a pre-configured password has been set with the “Allow changes” checkbox selected the Password Tab will appear. Changes to the password can be made in the Logon box by selecting the “Password” tab, entering and then confirming the new password.
StartUp Thawed at Logon

Logon Advanced Tab

Clicking on the Advanced Tab will bring up the dialog box with the Boot Control, Password and Advanced Tabs. If the “Enable Frozen/Thaw choice at boot time” is selected, it will permit a user with a valid Deep Freeze password to instantly enter the thawed state on the next computer restart. A new Password Logon box will automatically be displayed during the first startup (bootup) logon. This dialog box will appear after the computer has finished startup and will be appear for 30 seconds. Entering a password at the Deep Freeze Startup Logon box will provide the option of immediately entering a Thawed (Deep Freeze disabled) state without restarting the computer.

Unknown Password
Using the Deep Freeze Administrator, you can generate a special One Time Password (OTP) using the OTP system described on below. In the Standard version you have two choices

1. Boot to a floppy and format the hard drive.

2. Call Technical Support.

Using ThawSpace

The Workstation may be pre-configured by the Deep Freeze Administrator to have a ThawSpace. ThawSpace is a virtual disk used to save files and programs which will not be affected by Deep Freeze. ThawSpace operates like a normal disk. The ThawSpace appears, by default, as Drive letter T:

Other Software installations, removal or changes
You must disable Deep Freeze to install or remove other software programs or to make changes. Note: Installation of software often requires one or more reboots to complete the installation. Use the Boot Control to allow the computer to reboot with Deep Freeze thawed.

Support
Every effort has been made to design the software for ease of use and to be problem free. However, if you encounter problems or find that you are having difficulty making the software work as intended, please contact our support department as follows;

To remove deep freeze, you should have made it run in a thawn mode, then you run th same installer,,,,,it automatically will bring up the uninstall feature if it was installed.

    dear asker,
if you want to put deep freeze in a thawned mode, hold the shift button and double click the deep freeze icon in the system tray, after that it will ask for a password, if you didn’t assign a password for it just press ok and leave the field blanck, then you can choose “boot thawned” whichafter you can follow the previous comment of mine.

How to remove deep freeze program from my computer?

DF 5 : Replace file : Persi 0.sys in drive C with the same file.

DF 6 : Replace file : $Persi0.sys in C with the same file.

Install DF in another compie. Set Password. Get file Persi.sys or $Persi0.sys. Uses Linux or WinXP Prof recovery consol to copy this file.

Replace Persi0.sys or $persi0.sys in protected compie with new file. Use your new password to access DF configuration.

See You . Hi hi hi…I love you everybody.

I tried installing the deepfreez application on my PC,it assumed a successful state; i.e.,it installed to a state and restarted the PC,but when i tried to call it up since it wasn’t displaced on the taskbar with the Ctrl+Alt+Shift+F6 it will not come up.And whenever i tried uninstalling it from where the setup file is, it lunches and asks me to disable deepfreez before performing the uninstallation task.I have a Kerpasky antivirus installed on my PC. But i would like to know what other command or means however to call up this application(deepfreez) on my pc,so I can disable it, so I can Password it.

Heya, I am blogger like you, and was wondering, since Googles Panda Update, my website gets not anywhere found anymore :
( But when i looked for Enabling & Disabling Deep Freeze Welcome to Bishwas Zone your
website was around the 1st page. Want to reveal any tips
with me? I personally use only DuckDuckGo as search
engine due to the fact Google screwed virtually all up.
DuckDuckGo is a lot like Google before they chose to prefer only the massive monster sites!

Thats somewhat Offtopic, but i assumed you may give me an advice.
With regards to registering and hosting a domain name, I’m not sure what I must do. A. Must I register and host at the same place? Or B. Should I register my domain name with one company and host it with another? I would would rather do A, but therein lies my problem. I want to register my domain name with GoDaddy, since I like their prices. Nevertheless, I’d rather not host my site with them.
    What would be your choice?

Have you ever considered about adding a little bit more than just
your articles? I mean, what you say is fundamental and all.
Nevertheless imagine if you added some great photos or videos
to give your posts more, “pop”! Your content is excellent but with pics
and videos, this website could definitely be one of the very best
    in its field. Wonderful blog!

I own a new tai-chi studio in the East. Believe it or not,
I do not possess a website yet. The problem is I’m not certain whether to choose Blogger or WordPress. I know that I would like far more of a weblog feel than a web site feel, if that tends to make any sense. I would like to be able to update my site with blog posts. Would you be capable of give a couple of advantages and disadvantages for going with either Blogger or Live journal? I actually need to come to a selection relatively quickly on this , because it doesn’t make sense for
me to own this studio without having a web page. It would be kind if you could give
me some advice. Please write to: thurman_salcido@yahoo.
